THE SLAP ON THE FACE OF . . .

I wish I could dance at this happy event. Yesterday was the day that brought this happiness for me. I had been waiting for this day for a pretty long time. I must not forget this day only because it has proved us, the Bangalees futile. It has also brought me relief from noise-pollution. In the year 1971 we had proved ourselves brave by our valiant deeds through bringing independence for the nation. But in the year 2011, only after 40 years of our independence, we proved how stupid a nation could be. We, the Bangalees, are the stupidest nation in the world.

The whole thing needs to be detailed for different reasons.

An website namely new7wonders.com took the responsibility to select new seven natural wonders of the world. At the very outset, they counted one vote from one email address. The poll had begun almost three years back. I also had voted from my email address so that Sundarbans, one of the beautiful mangrove jungles in the world, could have been selected. The matter provoked me to think differently when I saw that it had taken almost a year but didn't finish the poll. A new wave of voting spread allover and I was told to vote again. I voted again in favor of Sundarbans. But this time my mind was shaken by the thought how many times I could vote from a single email address for a single poll.

However, I did not keep the thing in mind for a long time. This time another incident drew my attention and made me think differently for some strong reasons. I observed some advertisements telling: 'You can vote for Sundarbans from your mobile number and as many SMSs as you wish can be sent from one mobile number.'

This time I was bound to raise my voice against the site and its activities. The hidden intention of the site-maker came to light by the fact that innumerable number of SMSs could be sent from one mobile number. Every single SMS would cut 2.30 BDT from the user's mobile balance. It was nothing but a fraudulent act for earning money. The mobile-operators of the country also stretched their hands of help for this dishonest act because they, too, found a way to increase their profit.

A poll is a public opinion where every individual has their choice to express. But if one man can send as many SMSs as one wishes, how is it possible to call it a poll? At this, those who have the highest amount of money can manipulate the result by sending the highest number of SMSs. So, what New7wonders.com authority want to call a poll can never be the actual reflection of the public opinion. Ultimately, this is what I called a fraudulent act of earning money in one of my previous articles regarding the activities of the new7wonders.com authority.

Stupid Bangalees could not understand the trap of the new7wonders.com authority even when some tried to make them understand by mentioning the fact above. In the last few days, some enthusiast people created sound pollution through miking to seek votes for Sundarbans. I could not move on the way for such stupid activities. The whole nation went insane and even educated people started to seek vote for the deceitful competition.

Now it's necessary to say why I am this much happy. Actually, for the last few days, wherever I went I saw people seeking votes through mike and creating sound pollution. Some even created jam by street-discussion. City life was greatly hampered by the activities of these overwhelmed people. Yesterday was the day when this deceitful event finally came to an end it was nothing but THE SLAP ON THE FACE OF THOSE OVERWHELMED PEOPLE because Sundarbans was excluded from the final list of the competition though it was in the second position just the day before the final result.
